Music and Gym Shows
Monday morning Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Jarrett went to see the music and gym show at the kids' school. It is not really a show as much as it is an opportunity for parents to get to see a sampling of a "typical" music class and gym class. Grandma happened to be in town so she went as a special guest :-)
Jake's classes were at 9am and they got to see him first in music. If this was any indication as to how the day was going to go things were not looking good. The kids in his class were so shy with the parents watching them that they were not singing and a lot of them were hiding their faces or running over to their parents. But as time went by most of them started getting used to the parents being there. Jake was not one of those kids though. He was very shy... just like Taryn was last year when she was in the 3's and did her "show." Jarrett of course got to join in the fun because the teachers are all so sweet and love him.
Jake was a little less shy in the gym, but didn't want to do the induvidual things like the somersaults down the mat. But he did a great job overall and Mommy and Daddy were very proud.
For Taryn's class they started in the gym and she was the total opposite of last year... she was not one bit shy! She did a great job with everything and Jarrett was happy to cheer her on.
Then it was her music class and Mommy could not believe that they had learned the beginning parts of reading music. they could all when called on recognize half notes, quarter, notes, eighth notes, quarter rest, half rests, etc. and make the beat for the music they were reading. Mommy had assumed all this time in music they were just singing songs but they were actually doing a lot more. And Jake's class works on it too but they were too shy to do it for the parents. Jarrett again joined in participating with Taryn.
