Almost Rolling!!!!

Jarrett has been trying his best to roll back to front... he just gets a little stuck on his arm.

Hurricane Irene

Well the kids all had their first earthquake and hurricane in the same week!
Friday night the family started to get ready for Hurricane Irene. They had to get all the stuff tied down or off the deck with Papa's help, and make sure they had everything they needed just in case the power went out.

From the news reports, she hit us as a category 1 hurricane (then turned into a tropical storm shortly after) Saturday night into Sunday. It was a huge storm that brought A LOT of rain and some pretty strong winds! According to the news we got over 8 inches but not positive how much exactly. We were very lucky to only get a few spots of water in the basement, have the power go on and off a few times during the night, and just have some debris in the yard. Some of our friends were not as lucky with loss of power for days, flooded basements and the Carvers even had a tree fall on their house!
Taryn and Jake were sure to secure their house for the storm!

This was how high the stream was near our favorite playground and the pool. It flooded the parking lot and was up to the steps on the bridge still a day and a half later.

Maddie's 1st Birthday Party

Hurricane Irene totally ruined Maddie's first birthday party for Sunday... but a girl can't go without celebrating her 1st birthday with her friends so at Thursday's playdate we had an impromptu 1st birthday party.

Maddie wasn't as interested in her gifts as the other kids were... but I'm sure she will enjoy them soon enough!

Playing Outside

Playdate with Sophia and Jimmy

Last Thursday we had a playdate/ BBQ with the Hoffmans. Sophia is Taryn's age and Jimmy is a few months younger than Jake. They had a great time.

Earthquake!!!

That's right we had our first earthquake yesterday and Jake and Jarrett slept right through it! To be fair it barely shook the house. It did make the rakes etc bang against the garage wall... Daddy had a little bit more shaking at work but not too much more.

"Motorcycle"

Grandma and Grandpa couldn't wait to give Jake his birthday present. He calls it his motorcycle. He loves it and its cute that it only goes like 2 miles an hour! Taryn can pretty much walk faster than it!

We took them to the parking lot of Ben Franklin Elementary (where the kids will go) right up the street from us. It is a great place to ride bikes and play on the playground.

Jarrett is 3 Months Old!

Time sure is flying by. I can't believe Jarrett is 3 months old already!

He is doing so much more already. He loves to suck on his hands and Mommy's hands. He loves to play under his activity mat and grabs at all the stuff there now. He is very alert and has the cutest giggle. He is very ticklish already. Jarrett spends a lot of time in the Bjorn still because we are so busy with Taryn and Jake... but he loves it! He is still not sleeping through the night... but that will come. He also does not take a bottle or a pacifier well yet.

His eyes light up now when he sees his brother and sister. He is very entertained by their craziness!

Jake's Big Boy Bed

About a month ago Jake got his big boy bed delivered. Last Monday he started sleeping in it and he is doing a great job! He only cried for a few minutes the first night, but has transitioned great. We are so proud of him!

His bed is pretty cool. Like Taryn's, it has a trundle but it also has storage drawers for his clothes too. The only problem is it is a little high for him to get in on his own so he has to use his Pottery Barn chair to get up. His quilt is from Pottery Barn too, Jarrett has the same one for when he gets a big boy bed and the whole room theme changes to sports, but for now he just got the matching crib sheet.
