Forward Facing

This weekend Daddy turned Jarrett's car seat to face forward! He loves it. He also doesn't mind sleeping in it :-)

Yorktown Educational Foundation 5K & Fun Run

Saturday morning was the Yorktown Educational Foundation 5k and Fun Run at FDR Park. Mommy ran the 5k first and did ok. she ran it in 27:29 (8:51 minute mile speed of 6.78 mph) ... 3 seconds more than her last 5k. It is a very tough course since they switched it to include all of the hills, but she is running a bunch more before summer so maybe she will be able to break into the 26 minute mark :-)

But the best part of the day was when Taryn got to participate in her first run. It was supposed to be a mile run... but it was definitely not that long! She was very excited to have a number and was even more excited when our neighbor from Overlook Ave, Steve handed Mommy the American flag he always run with to carry during the race (Mommy ran with Taryn because she thought it was actually 1 mile).

Kurt Gallagher

Kurt Gallagher has been back at the library the past 4 Fridays. The kids had a blast going to all 4 shows. Jake even got to sing with his friend Max. They did great.

After the last show we went with Gina, Max, Julia and Luke to get ice cream from Abbotts.

School Picture Day

Yesterday was school picture day. Jarrett gets to go too and then they all do a group shot. It seemed like the photographer got a good one, but who knows. These are the best Mommy could get.

Trouble

Thursday, while Taryn was at school, Mommy was texting Uncle TJ pictures of the boys for 10 minutes just to show how much trouble they can cause in a short time. Here is their mischief.

Started with Jake needing a snack...
While she was cleaning up the goldfish Jarrett decided to check out what was on the dining room table...
Mommy removed him from there and went back to sweeping to find him climbing his kitchen...
He was removed from the kitchen after repeatedly climbing it and that's when Jake found Taryn's lipstick and tried some on, and Jarrett thought it might look nice on the floor before deciding to sweep while Mommy cleaned Jake...
While wiping the floor and Jake Jarrett found the toilet paper interesting.
At that point it was time to head to the mall to get a dress for Taryn's school pictures before soccer so they  headed to the mall... but not without a fight getting into the car seat from Jarrett.
Then they arrived at the mall to find the stroller had been removed from the car making the shopping trip very interesting :-)
But the boys were actually pretty well behaved in the mall and enjoyed their Subway lunch.

Music and Gym Shows

Monday morning Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Jarrett went to see the music and gym show at the kids' school. It is not really a show as much as it is an opportunity for parents to get to see a sampling of a "typical" music class and gym class. Grandma happened to be in town so she went as a special guest :-)

Jake's classes were at 9am and they got to see him first in music. If this was any indication as to how the day was going to go things were not looking good. The kids in his class were so shy with the parents watching them that they were not singing and a lot of them were hiding their faces or running over to their parents. But as time went by most of them started getting used to the parents being there. Jake was not one of those kids though. He was very shy... just like Taryn was last year when she was in the 3's and did her "show." Jarrett of course got to join in the fun because the teachers are all so sweet and love him.

Jake was a little less shy in the gym, but didn't want to do the induvidual things like the somersaults down the mat. But he did a great job overall and Mommy and Daddy were very proud.

For Taryn's class they started in the gym and she was the total opposite of last year... she was not one bit shy! She did a great job with everything and Jarrett was happy to cheer her on.

Then it was her music class and Mommy could not believe that they had learned the beginning parts of reading music. they could all when called on recognize half notes, quarter, notes, eighth notes, quarter rest, half rests, etc. and make the beat for the music they were reading. Mommy had assumed all this time in music they were just singing songs but they were actually doing a lot more. And Jake's class works on it too but they were too shy to do it for the parents. Jarrett again joined in participating with Taryn.

 Jayla, Taryn, and Caroline

After the shows they all headed to Panera for lunch before Daddy had to head to work.
