Opening Day for Soccer and Softball

Saturday sure was opening day for most of the sports and boy was it a busy, cold, rainy one! It started with Jake's soccer at 8:00. His team lost, but he did well and even got to play goalie. Then Mommy ran the kids around to run errands while daddy got a haircut.

Then it was home to grab stuff for Jarrett's soccer, Jake's rec league baseball game (which ended up getting cancelled, and Taryn's softball.
Since Jake's first baseball game was cancelled they all go t9o go to Jarrett's soccer game. He improved so much and was trying to get the ball during the game. His team won.

Then the boys stayed at Copper Beech with Daddy so that Jarrett could try out t-ball while Mommy took Taryn to her first softball game. She did great. She played 1st base for 2 innings and then left center for 2. Her first time at bat she got a hit (see video) and scored. The second at bat she got hit by a pitch. It was a great way to start off the season, even though her team lost.

That evening Jake had a Storm (travel) game at Legacy field vs. the Yorktown A team. It was an awesome game and they came back in the last inning to win! After the game the team went out to Kirby's for dinner the kids all had a blast! But they were all tired by teh time they got home at 10:45!

Jake's 1st Lacrosse Game

Friday night Jake had his first lacrosse game vs. Mahopac. They ended up losing by 1 point, but they would have been tied if the goal Jake scored had counted. I guess in an attempt the make teh kids pass there is a rule that you have to pass 2x before you can shoot on goal. Jake stole the ball and was near the net so he scored, but because he didn't pass it got called back. He did a great job and has lots of fun. (He is number 53 and Nick Curry is number 16)

Happy 60th Birthday Mama

Thursday was Mama's 60th birthday. The family celebrated at Il' Leghetto in Mahopac on the water. It was a very nice dinner. Mama, Taryn and Jarrett got lobster!  The gift we ordered for Mama hadn't come yet, so the kids made her a canvas.

Boston Marathon!!!!

Monday Mommy and her friend Jen woke up early to go running before they got their families ready to go to the Boston Marathon. It was a beautiful day to watch the race and everything was very inspiring. They got to see Sarah, who ran her first marathon, raising over $10,000 for cancer research.  They also got to see Mommy's friend Sarah from her running group and a guy daddy works with, Dave. The kids loved watching the runners and playing with the friends they went with. They got to see Meb run his final Boston Marathon as a pro, a marine who had lost his leg, and Kathrine Switzer on her 50th anniversary of being the first woman to run the Boston Marathon.

Easter Weekend in Massachusetts

Friday morning Mommy took Daddy to urgent care where he found out that he had had food poisoning since Monday before he went to LA. Once they were done there they packed up and started their trip to Massachusetts. They stopped at the Danbury mall on the way, then went to Happy's to visit Grandma and Grandpa at work for dinner, then to the movies to see the smurf movie.
Saturday morning the kids woke up all excited to open their Easter baskets from Grandma's friend Cheryl.

Then Jarrett made "Easter dresses" for Grandma, Taryn and Julianna. Uncle Brian and Julianna bought the kids a giant donut too.

Then Mommy and Daddy took Jake to see cousin Joseph play baseball. After dinner gRandma and Grandpa brought the kids to the ice cream farm.
Sunday morning the kids were excited to wake up and see that the Easter Bunny had brought them treats and hid 177 eggs in the yard.

That morning and afternoon they played a lot of baseball and softball at the school behind Grandma and Grandpa's house, had Easter dinner once grandpa got home and then played with Pam and Kim's kids after dinner.
